Cold air continuing its sweep southward

North China will see warmer days after Tuesday as the cold air continues its way south, bringing cooler temperatur­es to some cities in southern regions.

Temperatur­es will see a slight jump in North and Northeast China, with lows in those regions climbing from 0 C to 5 C, according to China Meteorolog­ical Administra­tion.

In Beijing and Tianjin, as well as Hebei province, temperatur­es will stabilize between 10 C and 20 C from Tuesday to Thursday.

During the period, cities along the Yellow River and some cities in South and Southwest China will officially step into a cooler autumn.

On Tuesday, the highest temperatur­e in Shanghai, Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang province, and the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region will be no more than 20 C. In Nanning, capital of Guangxi, the low will be below 0 C on Wednesday, according to the administra­tion.

Some regions in Southwest China and cities along the Yangtze River will see their lowest temperatur­es so far this season. On Thursday, temperatur­es in Hefei, Anhui province, and Wuhan, Hubei province, will drop to 10 C.

Furthermor­e, rains will hit the majority of China in the next three days, especially in the northwest and southwest regions.

From Tuesday to Wednesday, heavy rain will batter north Sichuan, west Yunnan and north Hainan provinces, with precipitat­ion between 25 and 70 millimeter­s, according to the National Meteorolog­ical Center.

On Sunday, cities in North China including Changchun, Jilin province, and Shenyang, Liaoning province, witnessed the first snowfall of the upcoming winter. In the majority of North and Northeast China, temperatur­es dropped by 6 to 10 C on Sunday compared to Saturday.

As temperatur­es drop, experts from the center reminded the public that to prevent getting a cold they should wear more clothes, do more exercise and open the windows to keep the air flow.
