Bank of China, a strategic partner of the upcoming third China International Import Expo, said it will provide high- quality services for the expo while using the opportunity to boost China’s foreign trade and investment.

As the “only comprehensive banking service supporting enterprise” at the first CIIE and the “only strategic partner” at the second CIIE, BOC will continue to contribute its world- class services to this year’s expo based on its longtime experience serving international trade businesses.

Since the second CIIE, BOC has been chosen as a whole- process supporting partner of the expo’s investment promotion roadshow.

It participated in and supported all 22 roadshows of the second CIIE last year and supported all the roadshows of the third CIIE this year.

At the end of June, it worked together with the China International Import Expo Bureau to hold the third CIIE’s first domestic investment promotion roadshow in Chengdu.

Since then, it has assisted the bureau in holding a number of roadshows in many Chinese cities including Changsha in Hunan province, Shangrao in Jiangxi province, Ningbo and Hangzhou in Zhejiang province, Nanjing in Jiangsu province, Changchun in Jilin province, Yinchuan in the Ningxia Hui autonomous region, Xining in Qinghai province, Jinan in Shandong province, and Kunming in Yunnan province, as well as in Shanghai, Chongqing, Tianjin and Beijing.

BOC has helped to promote the expo overseas.

On Nov 25, 2019, its New York branch supported a promotional conference for the third CIIE in the city in the United States.

Through the end of 2019, it had participated in several roadshows for the third CIIE in Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Cuba and Costa Rica.

BOC branches in Paris, Panama and Buenos Aires have also provided on- site services for local promotion activities.

Since June, some of its branches including BOC Hong Kong, BOC Seoul and BOC Phnom Penh assisted the expo with online services in a number of investment promotion conferences.

CIIE organizers hold a series of supply- demand matchmaking conferences and other large- scale supporting activities each year, to provide face- to- face exchanges between exhibitors and buyers.

BOC has supported such events and provided services to over 2,500 exhibitors and 4,500 buyers from more than 100 countries and regions.

Investment promotion has been added to this year’s CIIE and the scope of supply- demand matchmaking conferences will be expanded to boost trade and investment in China’s local markets.

BOC will launch a cross- border matchmaking service platform through its tools such as video conferences to engage domestic customers who cannot be physically present at the expo.

At the investment promotion zone of the online platform offered by BOC, representatives of some local industrial parks will be able to introduce their parks and negotiate with potential partners.

The bank, as the exclusive partner of the third CIIE in the culture and communication sector, will offer a package of payment services, by integrating mainstream payment tools at home and abroad, including Alipay, WeChat, UnionPay, credit cards and QR code payment.

To guarantee payment services for the intangible cultural heritage-themed exhibition at the CIIE, BOC has organized a special working team to provide one- to- one exclusive service for each exhibitor at its 4,000 square- meter exhibiting area, with POS machines and a bill collecting system.

Advanced tools

This year, BOC has integrated advanced technological tools into its services and products.

The BOC branch located in Shanghai Hongqiao National Convention and Exhibition Center has upgraded its facilities and set up a 5G experience area, which uses holographic naked eye technology, interactive experience technology and multimedia applications.

During the second CIIE, BOC supported the global e- commerce summit forum and a forum on promoting the internationalization of renminbi to serve China’s free trade zones, delivering the positive signals of the Chinese government in supporting the development of a multilateral trading system, the facilitation of free trade and openness of the global economy.

At this year’s expo, BOC and the People’s Bank of China will jointly host a forum on developing inclusive financial services and digit-driven growth.

By sharing its willingness and experience to cooperate with worldwide partners, government officials and entrepreneurs attending the expo, the activity aims to enhance the expo’s international influence and contribute to its long- term growth.

On Sept 18, BOC held a special meeting to encourage its staff members to provide high- level services for the upcoming CIIE, which will be held from Nov 5- 10 in Shanghai.

At the meeting, staff representatives of BOC vowed to present their best services with professionalism and innovation, doing their best to serve the expo.

Wang Bingnan, vice- minister of commerce and head of the China International Import Expo Bureau, praised BOC’s significant role in supporting the CIIE and said he expected BOC to further contribute to the event using its advantages and experience in boosting foreign trade and investment.

Wang Jiang, president of BOC, said all staff members of the bank should understand the significance of the CIIE under the current situation and be fully prepared to make a valuable impact during the expo’s many activities.
