Special committees to spur industry growth
The CIIE Bureau recently announced the establishment of three special committees by members of the enterprise alliance of the 2021 expo. The three special committees, covering low-carbon energy and environmental technology, smart transportation and new energy as well as integrated circuits, are expected to promote industry progress and strengthen business cooperation.
According to the bureau, the fourth expo will continue to host a smart transportation subsection at the business exhibition area for automobiles. Both integrated circuit and environmental protection technologies are vital parts of the Intelligent Industry & Information Technology exhibition area.
The establishment of the lowcarbon energy and environmental technology special committee is of great significance to the future development of the industry, said Wang Biao, global vice president of Baker Hughes, which will chair the committee.
Baker Hughes and other exhibitors will play an active role in promoting the development of technology, equipment, energy and low carbon through this committee, as well as contribute ideas for the sustainable development of China and the world, Wang said.
The country’s new target of achieving peak carbon emissions in 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2060 are major goals that will be incorporated into the overall layout of China’s construction of ecological civilization. These goals are also expected to bring huge market potential to the industry, said Kong Fuan, deputy director-general of the CIIE Bureau.
In recent years, China’s integrated circuit industry has developed at a fast pace, and the country has invested heavily in this sector by unveiling a host of supporting policies. A tariff exemption for imports of certain integrated circuits products was issued by the Ministry of Finance, the General Administration of Customs, and the State Administration of Taxation on Monday. The policy, which is valid for 10 years, will effectively encourage exhibitors to further explore the Chinese market, according to Liu Fuxue, deputy director-general of the CIIE Bureau. Liu said that the new committees can make better use of the advantages of the CIIE to strengthen exchange and seize business cooperation opportunities to achieve win-win results.
