Luxeed relaunch in full swing

-

Huawei-Chery joint brand Luxeed relaunched its first model, the S7, at a Huawei event on Thursday. The model is priced from 249,800 yuan ($34,515) to 349,800 yuan.

Initially released in November with four variants, the electric sedan faced factory relocation and shortages in component supplies.

Yu Chengdong, head of Huawei’s smart vehicle unit, said they have solved these issues and mass delivery of the Luxeed S7 has begun.

Yin Tongyue, chairman of Chery, said at the event that an average of one sedan rolls off the assembly line every minute.

Facing fierce competition from rivals like Xiaomi, Huawei has cut prices of three variants of the S7 while enhancing configurations.

Besides, the entry-level S7 now boasts an increased battery capacity from 60 kilowatt-hours to 82 kWh, leading to a 155-kilometer range extension. The car also debuted with Huawei’s visual-only smart driving solution, Huawei ADS, which allows highway assisted driving and parking assistance. The tech provider boasts leading driving-assist solutions.

In addition, there is now a fifth variant. The S7 Ultra four-wheeldrive is equipped with a 100 kWh battery from CATL, providing a range of 751 km and can accelerate from 0-100 km per hour in 3.3 seconds.

The performance can be attributed to Huawei’s Turing intelligent chassis and the DriveOne 800-volt silicon carbide high-efficiency platform.

The sedan measures 4,971 millimeters in length, 1,963 mm in width and 1,461 mm in height with the wheelbase stretching to 2,950 mm.

Huawei has also partnered with Seres Auto to launch Aito-branded electric vehicles, with more models to follow in collaboration with BAIC and JAC.
