Driving innovation, fostering growth
SAP is enabling Chinese companies to transform into intelligent, connected and sustainable enterprises
In the eyes of Chenhong Huang, president of German software and cloud giant SAP Greater China, the economic structures of China and Germany are highly complementary, which provides a solid foundation for companies from the two countries to cooperate.
“Germany’s renowned ethos of craftsmanship dovetails seamlessly with China’s formidable manufacturing prowess. This synergy forms the cornerstone of the collaboration between the two countries, allowing for a mutual exchange of expertise and resources,” Huang said.
Central to their partnership is a shared commitment to innovation, exemplified by joint endeavors in Industry 4.0, smart manufacturing and digital technology. These initiatives underscore SAP’s dedication to helping Chinese companies drive technological advancements and address global challenges, said the senior executive.
A prime example of such cooperative efforts is the close ties between SAP and XCMG, a leading Chinese player in the global construction machinery industry. With mutual trust and a shared vision, the two companies embarked on their first collaboration on Industry 4.0 in 2015. Over the years, their partnership has deepened, culminating in XCMG’s digital core migration to SAP S/4HANA in 2021. In 2023, SAP further assisted XCMG in expanding its global footprint and establishing itself as a world-class enterprise.
“This comprehensive collaboration underscores SAP’s commitment to empowering XCMG’s journey toward its intelligent industrial transformation using digital technologies while enhancing its global operations,” Huang said. “Our collaboration serves as a beacon of cooperation between China and Germany, driving innovation, fostering economic growth and shaping the future of global industry.”
He said that SAP, which has been in China for more than three decades, is championing the concept of “In China, For China”. Having set root in China, the company is empowering Chinese enterprises to accelerate their digital transformation and globalization, contributing to the development of the Chinese economy.
Amid China’s latest emphasis on nurturing new quality productive forces driven by technological innovation, Huang said the company’s new mission in the world’s secondlargest economy is to leverage digital technologies, such as Business AI and cloud solutions, to empower Chinese companies to accelerate their digital transformation and become intelligent, connected and sustainable enterprises.
“As the listed German company with the highest market valuation, SAP wants to demonstrate our longterm commitment to the Chinese market,” Huang said.
