WHY AREN’T THERE any cross-stitch masterpieces

hanging in the Louvre? It’s a question Hong Kong’s Centre for Heritage, Arts and Textile explores with

its new spring programme, Unconstrained Textiles: Stitching Methods, Crossing Ideas. It weaves together Hong Kong’s historic textile industry with ideas about textiles, art, design and craftsmanship, challenging preconceptions and pondering how these art forms will evolve. See work from seven artists, including experimental dying and stitching, political statements with fine embroidery by North Korean artisans and scrolls of fabric for visitors to record memories.

看過CHAT六廠的春季全新展覽《意象連綿：方法的彌合與

觀念的縱橫》後，你可能會質疑為何羅浮宮沒有紡織力作的蹤影。這個展覽向香港昔日蓬勃的紡織業致敬，把紡織、藝

術、設計與工藝化作紗線，編織出多元化的展覽和活動，相信會令觀眾對於紡織的藝術形式有嶄新的想法。展覽邀來七位藝術家參展，作品包括利用實驗性染色和縫紉等紡織技巧的藝術品，用來表達政治立場的北韓工匠刺綉品，以及參觀人士可參與創作以作留念的布疋。
