Sustainable solutions
The resort’s commitment to sustainability has landed it multiple accolades and awards over the years. It’s clear that going green is an important part of how the property is run, which is something I absolutely love about Pimalai. That includes plans like reducing the use of plastic bottles (recyclable glass water bottles were replenished in our room daily) and educating the local community on waste management measures.
In addition, the resort’s dining establishments – The Seven Seas Restaurant & Bar, Spice n’Rice Thai Restaurant, Raktalay Beach Bar and Restaurant, and The Banyan Tree Poolside Cafe – use fresh, local produce. Pimalai’s owner Anurat Tiyaphorn believes in sustainable farming, and runs his own fruit orchards, herb gardens and vegetable farms. The resort also sources its seafood from small-scale southern Thai producers, including Koh Lanta’s native fishermen.
