Inside a renowned French preschool

The school was created in 2006 by Christian and Dominique Chasset at the request of French parents in Hong Kong. The Chassets are not just qualified and decorated French teachers, they’ve also been living in Hong Kong for 35 years, and are the founders of the well-known language school the Hong Kong Institute of Languages, located in Central, and the Hong Kong Kids Academy.

Les Petits Lascars is operated by the Hong Kong Kids Academy and offers preschool education for ages nine months to six years, either in French, in line with the French National Education system, or in bilingual (French/ English) or trilingual (French/English/Mandarin) options. The school also provides an internatio­nal stream, with progressio­n to the Internatio­nal Baccalaure­ate.

Play-based, sensory and stimulatin­g learning activities that allow children to explore the five senses and the environmen­t around them, building their confidence and self-confidence.

Good news for little learners! The largest private French and internatio­nal preschool in Hong Kong is now admitting students for 2020/21. Here are five key things to know about Les Petits Lascars.

A playful and caring teaching approach, centred on socialisat­ion, and designed to stimulate language, sensory, motor and cognitive developmen­t.

K1 is compulsory from the age of three in the French system, and this programme is designed to develop the desire, enjoyment and reward of learning.

These mother tongue support classes are aimed at French-speaking children in local or internatio­nal schools; they’re generally taught in small groups one to three times a week.

Classes operate on the model of the French school year, from September to June.
