A Lamborghini Record
Lamborghini Squadra Corse sets a new record with over 200 racing cars produced in 24 months
From 2015 to 18 January 2016, the Lamborghini Squadra Corse managed to produce its 201st car, a GT3, coming out of the production line at Sat’agata Bolognese, setting a new record for the production house. This is one of the few Motorsport departments in the world that prides itself on manufacturing its own racing cars on the same production line as its road car, both within the same facility. Racing cars are followed along each assembly station by skilled and qualified technicians from Lamborghini Squadra Corse to ensure maximum care in the assembly.
Racing and road cars being produced together increases its production value. Production times are greatly reduced and the highest quality control standards are always guaranteed, in this case, translates into greater reliability on tracks. For a Motorsport department, these are extraordinary numbers, considering the limited time frame in which these cars are built.
“These figures show once more the great commercial and sporting success of the Huracán Super Trofeo and GT3, a result we want to share with all our customer teams investing in our Motorsport programs and products. A special thanks also goes to the Squadra Corse staff and all business areas of Automobili Lamborghini contributing to achieve important results every day,” said Giorgio Sanna, Head of Motorsport at Automobili Lamborghini.
The Huracán Super Trofeo made its first public appearance in August 2014, during the Pebble Beach Concours d’elegance in California and starting racing in the 2015 season. Over 140 units were produced in the course of two years at full production. The GT3 version, differs in terms of a slightly more sophisticated aerodynamic kinematic, making its racing debut in 2015 (and winning the Endurance race of the Blancpain GT Series at Monza).
