Richard Mille Jean Todt Collection
A remarkable collection dedicated to Jean Todt for his 50-year career anniversary
Jean Todt is a French motorsport executive and a good friend of Richard Mille. Having been in his career for 50 years, the world-renowned watchmaker has dedicated three models to him, each bearing his name and favourite colour.
At Chantilly Art & Elegance 2016, the brand celebrated alongside the man who wrote the greatest pages of motorsport history with an amazing Jubilee. Jean Todt and Richard Mille have forged a strong friendship based on their shared passions: watchmaking, extreme technicity, and all things automotive. They also acknowledged their qualities of being equally obsessive, detail-oriented and demanding in their respective fields, as clearly illustrated in this special series of timepieces.
The RM11-03 Flyback Chronograph was presented last September, a sports watch that is inspired by automobiles and their history of displaying new visual codes of the brand. It is powered by an architectural automatic calibre in grade 5 titanium. The RM 11-03 Jean Todt 50th Anniversary edition is protected by a new blue and white Quartz TPTTM casing and is extremely light and resistant. This Blue Quartz TPTTM is also used for the case of the RM 050 Jean Todt 50th Anniversary model. This particular calibre houses a split-seconds chronograph regulated by a tourbillion. The extreme skeletonisation of the bridges and baseplates is combined using titanium and carbon nanofibre, making it extremely light with a weight of 9.5grams. Exceptional mechanism is also spotted in the final piece of the Jean Todt collection: the RM 056 that is housed within a sapphire case. The construction and curvature require both human ingenuity and long machining times to achieve this level of ergonomics and finish.
