• My Winning Reflection

The talented Australian secured a convincing three-shot victory after firing a flawless six-under-par 65 for a winning total of 14-under-par 270 at the event sanctioned by the Asian Tour and Japan Golf Tour. After hitting six balls into the water in the opening two rounds, Sinnott had to fight tooth-and-nail to make the halfway cut. He moved from 40th position to tied fourth after the third day and cruised to victory thanks to six birdies in the final round. Read to find out what he has to say in this latest column of My Winning Reflection.

“It is fantastic to get my first win as a professional.

I’m proud and excited to get that first win. Looking back at the Leopalace21 Myanmar Open, I’m very proud with the way I played in the final round.

I was three-over in the tournament with eight holes to go in the second round. I birdied two holes and eagled one so I was four-under and I managed to make the halfway cut after hitting six balls into the water in the first two rounds!

You need to be on the fairways all the time to attack the greens. I can hit it a lot

higher than most of the guys out here and put the spin on the ball. I knew I could shoot a couple of low numbers during the weekend but I didn’t think I would win.

On the final day, I birdied two holes in a row on 13 and 14. When I did that, I knew that if I finished strongly I would have a good chance at winning. I knew where I was the whole day and knew what I had to do to get up with the leaders and keep pushing on. I was really focussed the whole day to try and shoot the lowest score that I could shoot.

The Leopalace21 Myanmar Open was my second Asian Tour tournament after Qualifying School where I shot 10-under in the last round and lost in a play-off. That was huge for me to shoot that number and gave me a lot of confidence in Myanmar.

The main objective during that week (Qualifying School) was to get my card but I was disappointed not to win after coming close. Losing at Qualifying School hurt a little bit but it proved that I can shoot a low number on the last day.

I turned professional in February, 2015 and in the last couple of years I haven’t had enough of events to play in the year. It was frustrating because I couldn’t get anything going but now I have three Tours to choose from!

One of the goals for me after getting my Asian Tour card is to get into the CIMB Classic. I know Cameron Smith a couple of years came through the Asian Tour and did well there (CIMB Classic) and within 12 months he is playing on the PGA Tour.

This win gives me the opportunity to aim for that goal. Wish me luck!“
