4,000 riders take to the roads of Sheffield for Maserati Tour de Yorkshire

-

On 30 April 2017, 4,000 cyclists took part in the third edition of the Maserati Tour de Yorkshire Ride. Amateur cyclists rode across 45km, 75km and 100km routes along tons of steep and winding roads that the Tour de Yorkshire pro ride was competing on later that day. Belgian’s Team Dimension Data Serge Pauwels won the leg of the race.

For the second consecutive year, participants were greeted with warm weather and dry roads that were beautifully framed against the surrounding Yorkshire countryside. The race started in Fox Valley Sheffield and was arguably the most challenging edition yet. Riders were faced with a significant climb at the opening 1.5km, before tackling a number of further demanding ascents throughout the route. The last 20km of the 100km long route mixed steep hills and technical descents, touching base with the north-eastern edge of the Peak District.

Peter Denton, Region Manager Maserati North Europe, said: “We’re delighted to be involved with the Tour de Yorkshire Ride for a third consecutive year and we are already looking forward to welcoming riders to the 2018 edition in 12 months’ time. The ride routes provided their own unique challenges this year but only added to the sense of achievement for every rider that crossed the finish line.”
