The spring edition continues to convert art lovers to first-time buyers

-

Singapore’s fourth edition of the Affordable Art Fair took place from 7 to 9 April 2017. More than 42 local and international art galleries showcased approximately 800 artworks, with 300 new and returning artists attending the event.

9,000 visitors graced the fair with more than S$1.9m of sales made over the weekend. 30% of the buyers were new while 65% of works were sold to locals, reflecting the fair’s success in inspiring a new love for art in the local population.

“We are happy to see that our results show that returning visitors remain confident about their purchases and that newbie visitors are starting to exert their buying power. This validity is in line with our mission of educating new people and inspiring them to fall in love with, and buy art, and it is what we feel makes us a constructive part of the local art and lifestyle landscape.” Said Mr Alan Koh, Fair Director, Affordable Art Fair Singapore.

The spring edition highlights included a live performance by Japanese street artist Shinichi Tashiro aka Ichi, a creative project featuring three SEA artists who created their signature artworks on Bugaboo Bee5 stroller canopies, Playeum’s (Official Children’s Art Studio Provider) interactive studio for kids and other large-scale art installations. Art lovers can now look forward to the autumn edition set on 17 November 2017.
