Ping Sigma G Tyne

-

www.ping.com Weight: 370g Grip: Ping Pistol P60 Toe hang: Face-balanced

TECH:

The Tyne’s fanged back spreads mass and increases MOI. A milled aluminium insert has variable depth and width grooves to deliver consistent ball speed performance across the face, which Ping says helps reduce your three-putts. Feel is enhanced by a highenergy elastomer insert behind the face.

WE SAY:

A lovely, stretched prong design with a really simple, clean look at address. We loved how the prongs show the head’s path away from the ball, and how the single sightline really focuses attention on your intended impact location. One tester felt how the topline flows into the back really encouraged him to hit “up” on putts, meaning the Tyne rolled putts beautifully without flash or fuss. For golfers with slightly arcing strokes there’s also an “H” (hosel) model which doesn’t have a double bend shaft, but does have a small amount of toe hang.

TOP GEAR VERDICT

Since the Tyne can already be found in Ping’s gold putter vault, it’ll likely be around for a while. A very solid, stable and unfussy MOI putter. If you’re in the business of making sure you get the most out of any new purchase, it’s well worth taking Ping up on fitting.
