Ping Sigma G D66
www.ping.com Weight: 350g Grip: Ping Pistol PP60 Toe hang: Moderate
TECH:
New milled aluminium face inserts have variable depth and width grooves to deliver consistent across the face ball speed performance, which Ping says helps reduce your 3-putt potential. Feel is enhanced by a highenergy elastomer insert behind the face, and a new PP60 grip fits more naturally into the palm and fingers, lightening grip pressure and tension.
WE SAY:
The D66 got more than its fair share of toe hang, which means it’s well suited to golfers with at least a degree of arc in their putting stroke. All three testers warmed to the head’s simple lines, and the single white alignment stripe. A compact blade length and narrow head mean it’s unfair to expect forgiveness to be anywhere close to the levels of an MOI shaped putter. All our testers thought the D66 looked good and packed in plenty of desirability for golfers who aren’t after a full-on forgiving putter.
TOP GEAR VERDICT
If you’re a fan of compact and simple traditional blades with a sprinkling of modern face and groove tech, the D66 should be right up your street. The new oversized sharpedged PP60 grip also feels great on such a traditional model.
