On the final day of the Tour de Yorkshire, 4,000 amateur riders took to the very same roads, experienced the same roaring crowds, and crossed the same finish line in Leeds as the professionals in the blazing Yorkshire sunshine during the fourth annual Maserati Tour de Yorkshire Ride. Temperatures peaked at 26 degrees, in stark contrast to the torrential rain that greeted riders at the inaugural ride in 2014.

The sell-out Maserati Tour de Yorkshire Ride saw the most cyclists take part in the sportive since its introduction, reflecting the growth in popularity of cycling across Yorkshire and the rest of the UK. Riders of all ages and levels of experience took to the roads from Woodhouse Moor, to tackle the long (129km), medium (84km), and short (49km) routes. Heading north from Leeds City Centre, riders passed through Otley, Pately Bridge and at the most northern point Kirkby Malzead, before turning back towards Leeds with eyes on the finish line in Millennium Square. Expert route designers described the undulating route as “bringing new meaning to the phrase ‘up-hill and down dale’”, and riders were not disappointed.

Riders were also able to experience the Maserati range first hand, with Maserati cycling ambassador David Millar leading out the first wave of riders in the Maserati Levante SUV, while at the finish line riders were able to view the Levante Diesel Granlusso complete with bike rack alongside the Ghibli Gransport.

Mike Biscoe, General Manager, Maserati GB said, “We’re delighted to once again be involved with the Tour de Yorkshire Ride for this, our fourth consecutive year. The sun shone on the riders this year and it was fantastic to experience the electric atmosphere in Leeds, cycling really has found a home in Yorkshire. On behalf of Maserati, congratulations to everyone who took part, helped to organise and crucially came out to support our riders – it was an incredible weekend.”
