Five Of The Best... Holes-in-one

-

Tiger Woods 16th hole, 152 yards, TPC Scottsdale, 1997

Though he didn’t win this Phoenix Open, Woods was responsible for creating its most enduring image – a typically aggressive fist pump and fans’ beer cups raining down on the tee around him after he holed his 9-iron in the third round of the 1997 event.

Andrew Magee 17th hole, 332 yards, TPC Scottsdale, 2001

In the first round of the Phoenix Open, Magee’s tee shot with a driver bounced off Tom Byrum’s putter before finding the cup, an ace deemed entirely legal.

Brian Harman 14th hole, 218 yards, Plainfield CC, 2015

The left-hander’s 4-hybrid landed a few feet short of the flag and trickled into the hole during the final round of the 2015 Barclays. A remarkable shot was made truly extraordinary by virtue of it being Harman’s second ace of the round.

Leif Olson 15th hole, 132 yards, Glen Abbey GC, 2009

On 15 in the Canadian Open, Olson’s tee shot landed 20ft behind the hole, span backwards, ricocheted off his playing partner’s ball, turned sharp right and ran 5ft into the hole. Oh so Heath Robinson.

Rich Beem 14th hole, 177 yards, Riviera CC, 2007

We include Beem’s ace from the 2007 Nissan Open not to so much for a tee shot that bounced once and dropped straight into the hole, but for the reaction as Beem climbed atop the red Nissan sports car he’d just won and laid bellydown on the roof.
