Then Now Beyond

An Exhibition Celebrating 40 Years Of The Hour Glass

-

Honouring its journey of the past forty years, the celebratory exhibition Then Now Beyond, on view until end February 2020, explores the art of horology, alongside a collection of limited-edition time pieces. On presentation are specially commissioned works by four renowned designers and contemporary artists addressing the beauty and essence of time.

The exhibition section of the flagship store ‘Malmaison by The Hour Glass’ has been redesigned by Milan based Joann Tan Studio, creating an immersive environment inspired by Stanley Kubrick’s cinematic sets for the special collection of limited-edition time pieces, and commissioned artworks for the exhibition.

“Then Now Beyond had been a two-year long effort and was really The Hour Glass’s way of celebrating timekeeping through a different approach. We wanted to dig deeper and expand the cultural milieu of the watchmaking art. It was important for us to insert the narrative of watchmaking and timekeeping whilst diving deep into the universe of art and design. Looking back now, and having been able to work with such a talented portfolio of artists and designers,

it has certainly been a real pleasure seeing the fruition of these ideas that challenge the concept of time and the way the world sees it,” says Mr Michael Tay, Group Managing Director of The Hour Glass.

Then Now Beyond which was project managed by leading Art & Design Advisory firm, The Artling, will also showcase a curated selection of commemorative edition watches developed in tandem with longstanding partners of The Hour Glass: Audemars Piguet, Chopard, De Bethune, Franck Muller, MB&F, URWERK, Ulysse Nardin, NOMOS Glashütte, Sinn, TAG Heuer and Longines.
