Designing For Social Distancing
Designing For Social Distancing
The Covid-19 emergency requires a rethink of the spaces of tomorrow especially with regards to outdoor environments, public spaces made available will have to respect the rules of distancing. Access to beaches will also be very different from the past, expect it to be by reservation, while observing a distance of at least 1 metre between bathers. Spacing between beach umbrellas should guarantee an area of at least 10 square meters for each position, and in the absence of an umbrella, a distance of at least 1.5 metres between sunbeds and deck chairs.
While these changes are decidedly different from how we have lived so far and will upset our habits, in certain aspects they will favour greater intimacy and the concept of exclusivity.
And it is precisely on these concepts that Myyour, an Italian brand specialising in the production of outdoor furniture, has imagined these new spaces with different solutions for the food and beverage sector and for the beaches. These also include the new Flamingo delimitation system for beach stations equipped with functional accessories such as the sanitizing gel dispenser and a hidden ashtray.
Sun worshippers can’t imagine giving up the sea, the beach, or an afternoon by the pool. This is the stimulus that led Myyour, with the collaboration of the Moredesign studio, to create a solution that not only increased space, but creates a sense of exclusiveness and intimacy. The Flamingo system, consisting of ballast and rope, allows for division of space in a personalised, agile and fast way, creating routes and accesses to each area while always guaranteeing safe distancing. Perfect not only on the beach but also in the context of the summer terraces of restaurants, bars, and swimming pools.
At the base of Flamingo there is a ballast that allows for easy positioning even on the sand, requiring only to be filled with 5 litres of water or sand via the top loading cap. Entirely recyclable supplied in 100m spools, Flamingo also works as a standalone solution when integrated with the dedicated accessory kit.
A smart product, Flamingo can be accessorised to be complete and responsive to the needs of the moment.
LIFE
really stood out. Pablo is from Uruguay and this project is deeply personal to him as a photographer. The effort required to envisage, produce and shoot this series is laudable in every way.”
Commenting on his win Albarenga says: “With this important award, I see two victories: first, the opportunity to tell the stories of the traditional communities of the Amazon by highlighting the people who are still fighting not only for their future, but for everyone's. We need to look beyond the trees, the oxygen and the "undiscovered" species of the rainforest. Secondly, that the photographer of the year award has landed in Latin America, a continent historically told through the eyes of foreigners. I hope that many more photographers from our region will continue to contribute with our voices, thus strengthening the amazing community of Latin American storytellers.”
Also announced are the ten category winners of the Professional competition as well as overall winners of the Open, Student and Youth competitions.
