Cobra King Cobra Wedge

Progressive And Full-face Grooves Optimise Spin

-

The serpentine reference with the Cobra King Cobra wedge and its Snakebite Groove technology couldn’t be more overt. The wedge also features a resurrected King Cobra logo in a nostalgic nod to the brand’s rich history – to a time when Greg Norman, The Great White Shark, was the brand ambassador and world’s number one golfer.

Yet the new King Cobra wedge couldn’t be more far removed from the now retired Trusty Rusty wedge long associated with Cobra. Yes, the scalloped sole remains, if only to usefully bring the leading edge closer to the ground when the wedge is laid open, otherwise it’s packed with all the latest Cobra Golf tech, including a party trick no other wedge in the market can match out of the box.

Spin is the marketing speak around a wedge, and the new Snakebite Grooves are engineered to maximise bite around the greens. By replacing the cutting tools more often, Cobra ensures the tightest groove tolerances, maximise groove volume, and create the sharpest and most accurate grooves possible. Groove depth is increased by 11% and edges are 40% sharper for maximum ball spin. A progressive groove system utilizes different groove lengths and shapes to optimise spin for each wedge loft.

The 48°-54° degree lofts feature a traditional groove length with narrower and deeper grooves for consistent spin and trajectories, since the lower lofted wedges are more often used with a square or de-lofted face. The 56°-60° degree lofts feature full face grooves that are wider and shallower to maximise spin on shots hit with an open face, which is when the ball is more likely to make contact with the high toe area. Wedge faces and groove shapes are precision CNC milled for optimal spin and trajectory control. Grind options are kept simple:

Versatile grind (48°, 50°, 52°, 54°, 56°, 58° and 60°)

- an all-around grind for medium to firm course conditions, featuring toe, heel and trailing edge relief.

Classic grind (52°, 56° and 60°)

- features a progressive sole width from heel-to-toe with trailing edge relief, benefiting neutral to steeper swings and a variety of course conditions.

Widelow grind (56°, 58° and 60°)

- a wide, low bounce sole works its magic out of soft bunkers, soft turf conditions and prevents the leading edge from digging.

The Bryson Dechambeau inspired One Length version (37.5”) is available in 56° and 60° lofts in a Versatile Grind with a full-face groove design.

All wedges feature a black Lamkin Crossline Smart grip and KBS Hi-rev 2.0 (125g) shaft. Cobra Connect, Powered by Arccos Golf, helps golfers track wedge stats and learn tendencies so they can practice more efficiently.
