Back to black
This colour refuses to go out of style, as these very different watches show
1_ A. LANGE & SÖHNE Lange 1 Moon Phase
Amid the talk about the trend toward timepieces with blue dials, can we take a moment and stop to admire the Lange 1 Moon Phase again? The version with the black dial in white gold stands out because of its sleek, ultraelegant look, and that’s despite all the activity on the dial, including the day-night indicator and the moon phase display.
2_ PIAGET Polo S
Unveiled in July last year, the Piaget Polo S was a vibrant watch that straddled perfectly the line between sporty and elegant. This year, Piaget has enriched its collection with three new creations, including this timepiece, fitted with the 110P movement, a black dial, an ADLC-treated bezel and black rubber strap. Production is limited to 888 watches.
3_ IWC SCHAFFHAUSEN Aquatimer Perpetual Calendar Digital Date-Month
To mark the 50th anniversary of the Aquatimer diver’s watch, IWC has launched a special model, the first watch in a Ceratanium case. This novel material has the light and unbreakable quality of titanium, and the scratch resistance of ceramic. The striking timepiece comes in matte black. Only 50 pieces will ever be made.
4_ URWERK UR-105 CT Streamliner
Urwerk has created the UR
105 CT Streamliner to mark its 20th anniversary and its beginnings in New York. Slide the catch on top of the case to reveal the beautiful mechanism of the Art Deco-inspired timepiece, which features a wandering hour indication in an openwork carousel. The all-black version is made of titanium and black PVDcoated steel.
