Four Seasons, Alila and Naumi’s new outposts
Two hotel properties add their own vibe to the already eclectic energy of Malaysia’s capital city. Time for a visit, we think.
All glammed up
The newest name-drop address is right smack in the middle of Kuala Lumpur’s Golden Triangle neighbourhood.
As if the area couldn’t get any more chicer, Four Seasons Kuala Lumpur opens this month next to the iconic Petronas Towers and across from the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. Aside from its 209 guest rooms, six restaurants and lounges, a signature spa and wellness haven, the property boasts KL’s most expansive retail space in the first six floors of the building. fourseasons.com
An urban retreat
For your next trip to KL, head over to the Bangsar neighbourhood, where Alila Bangsar just opened its doors last May. This is Alila Hotels & Resorts’ first property in Malaysia and it promises to become the hangout for the city’s artistic urbanites. The hotel occupies the top floors of a mixed-use development called The Establishment. All 143 guestrooms were designed by Lyndon Neri and Rossana Hu in keeping with Alila group’s sustainability commitment. Aside from the high-tech and green features, Alila Bangsar provides guests with activities tailored to suit their tastes. alilahotels.com
Home is where the art is
Whether you’re in the city for a quick layover, an overnight business trip, or days of sightseeing, Naumi Auckland Airport Hotel has all the conveniences and comforts of home to delight you.
Launched early this year, the first hotel outside of Singapore of Naumi Hotels, a Singapore-based design hotel group, Naumi Auckland Airport Hotel sets the airport hospitality bar higher in Auckland with its 193 vibrant rooms and suites, offering private patios and balconies, an outdoor swimming pool, a perfectly manicured English garden, restaurant and bar, and a fully equipped gym. Located within the airport precinct, the hotel is a stylish and comfortable respite for leisure and business travellers. What’s more, New Zealand’s famous winery, the Villa Maria Wine Estate, as well as the historic Otuataua Stonefields Reserve and Mangere Mountain are just a few minutes away.
From the lobby to the guest rooms, art plays a big role in the hotel: Belynda Henry, an Australian artist and winner of the NSW Wynne prize has been commissioned to capture the natural landscape of Auckland. Her multi-sensory pieces are showcased in the hotel lobby. New Zealand-based designer Judi Bagust’s artworks, featuring whimsical signature brush strokes, are reminiscent of a particular song of New Zealand’s native Tui bird.
A 24-carat gold leaf textured wall greets guests as they check in. Commissioned and made by the NY
Art Department (NZ), the piece of art represents the feathered nape of the Tui bird, which took six months to create. A total of 95 gold discs hand-painted with feathers adorn the lounge area, which has been designed with rich layering of emerald greens, jewel blues, and magenta pops, mimicking the shimmering Tui tones.
Dining at the hotel is an experience on its own. Paksa restaurant offers a menu of Asian-fusion and classic dishes. And with over 500sqm of state-of-the-art conference spaces, Naumi Auckland Airport Hotel also takes care of your business, formal, or family events. naumihotels.com
