Forest walks
The Amanyangyun resort opens this autumn in Shanghai. It sits in the middle of an ancient camphor forest transplanted from 700 kilometres away. It took over a decade of painstaking work to uproot 10,000 camphor trees and replant them in Shanghai, so saving them from being drowned in a new reservoir being built in the province of Jiangxi. The developers of Amanyangyun also saved 50 houses dating from the Ming Dynasty and the Qing Dynasty from the same fate, dismantling them piece by piece and reassembling them in Shanghai. As well as its forest and lakes, the new resort offers 13 Antique Villas, 24 modern Club Suites and an Aman Spa.
