CONTRIBUTORS
New York–based photographer MIKE RUIZ is best known for his high-impact celebrity photography and glossy fashion shoots for major international magazines. Ruiz has also shot advertising campaigns for brands including Sean John, M.A.C Cosmetics, Reebok and Bongo jeans, as well as CD covers. In recent years he has branched out as a director, creating music videos for artists such as Kelly Rowland, Traci Lords and Kristine W, as well as the campy independent film Starrbooty. In this issue, Ruiz handles our haute couture shoot (“Out of this World”, page 66). Born in California and raised in Hong Kong, ZANETA CHENG studied at the University of Pennsylvania and UCL before beginning her career as a fashion and lifestyle writer at London’s Tank Magazine. She then returned to Hong Kong and worked as a fashion writer for Prestige, covering everything from designer profiles to industry macro trends in fashion, beauty, travel, culture and celebrity. She’s currently a freelance writer for publications including Women’s Wear Daily and Magazine B. This month she demonstrates her passion for fashion by editing and writing the Runway section (page
201), and interviewing the maestro of event production, Alexandre de Betak (“All the World’s a Stage”, page 98). STEPHEN MCCARTY is a former literary editor of the South China Morning Post and ex-editor-inchief of the Asia Literary Review. Having appeared at literary festivals in Bali, Hong Kong, Jaipur, London, Melbourne, Shanghai and Singapore, he would be delighted to work exclusively as a moderator if he could find someone to pay him to do it fulltime. He is a vegetarian, an animal-rights advocate and a musician of questionable quality. And like any knowledgeable, football-loving Mancunian, he supports Manchester City. This month, McCarty ponders the possibility of reaping riches from writing (“Famous Last Words”, page 180). Hong Kong photographer RUBY LAW specialises in fashion, beauty and portraits. She loves shooting beautiful women with character and her work is especially influenced by Hong Kong and London, the two cities in which she grew up. Law, who set up The Space Cactus studio with her partner Kit Chan two years ago, has had her work published in magazines such as Esquire, Harper’s Bazaar and Foxes, as well as on WestwoodWestwood. com and Missbish.com. In this issue, Law shoots Barney Cheng (“25 Fabulous Fashionable Years”, page 148). DINO BUSCH is a Croatian photographer who alternates between Asia and Europe for advertising and fashion shoots. His portfolio is studded with stunning visuals that have been published in myriad magazines around the world. For this month’s Prestige, the model-turnedself-taught-photographer shoots the Style spread for our Runway section (“Fashion Express”, page 202) and Adam Raby
(First Person, page 16).
