GETTING CRAFTY
Louis Vuitton’s new autumn/winter collection provides the jolt to the system we need to kick off the season
Debuting in all Louis Vuitton stores on July 31, here’s the arm candy we’ve all been waiting for. The LV Crafty Collection is the style equivalent of a double shot of espresso – a veritable kick of style in an ultra-bold and youthful range of bags. We’re really admiring the vivid and vibrant graphic prints – a jolt to the system to help kick off autumn/winter 2020.
First, there’s the pop-art stylings influenced by graffiti art and neo-expressionism, pinning down the high-low cultural clash that Louis Vuitton has become such an expert at over the years. Then, available in two colour schemes – a bright and energetic cream and red, or a more autumnal cream and caramel – this LV Crafty pattern appears on the famed French maison’s most famous models, such as the large Onthego tote, the NéoNoé bucket bag and the adorable little Boite Chapeau Souple. Both colours set the mood for a sense of travel, too – though we might have to play this out in our imaginations for the time being.
The magnified illustrative patterns encase an LV Monogram Giant motif, bringing a vibrancy and frenetic energy to the age-old traditional monogram in the LV Crafty series. This print isn’t for the faint of heart, and we’re thankful for that. When it comes to accessories, a bold statement is kind of what we need right now. The Crafty collection manages to revisit a print chosen from the house’s archives, pairing it with the monogram, and done with a sense of fun and ambition.
For those who prefer something more muted, there’s the Monogram Empreinte leather collection, which features the LV Crafty print on fun keychain-like accessories dangling from the braided handle on sleek handbags like the MM. But, as we say, with a collection like this it’s go large or go home.
