EASY BREEZY EMPORIO

With its lightness of fabric and thought, Emporio Armani spring/summer 2024is a breeze.

“Summer as a condition of the spirit,” read the show notes of the Emporio Armani spring/summer 2024 collection, a refreshing statement to hear just as we pull ourselves out of the long and cold winter. Titled Like a Breeze, the relaxed luxurious collection captures the lightness of a carefree summer, prioritising weightless fabrics and owing silhouettes.

Founded in 1981, seven years a er Giorgio Armani’s eponymous label, Emporio Armani has always catered to a younger demographic, whether through design or having a more accessible price. Even as the designer approaches his 90th birthday this year, he’s lost none of his ability to de ly construct a timeless youthful wardrobe.

As we saw in the Giorgio Armani show, colour is really where the designer excels this season. While there may be talk of trending shades such as red and pale blue, Armani’s unwillingness to bend into trends or create viral moments proves that true style transcends eeting fads, and it’s a winning formula; his business is in rude health.

Armani’s modus operandi and signature feminine expression take on new dimensions this summer, presenting a wardrobe of easy-to-wear looks that range from beach sets with bikini-esque bra tops to show-stopping evening wear organised by a vibrant colour spectrum.

Warm gold beiges opened the show, featuring cropped jackets and trousers cinched with wide black belts. Light Chartreuse looks move the colour palette forward; a Mandarin-style silk jacket and trousers stood out. Aquamarines and blossom purple hues evoke a sense of ethereal beauty, with more skin-baring looks than previously seen on the catwalk, and models sporting barely-there mesh sock boots. Next, the looks of fuchsia jackets and midnight blue trousers showcase Armani’s penchant for eclectic combinations.

The grand nale unveiled a stunning array of eveningwear, with iridescent full-length skirts and embroidered tops adorned with myriad beads, worn e ortlessly by models with foulards fashioned as chic turbans.
