Public Security Concerns

Fights and other violent incidents occur rather frequently on Tung Chau Street, under the footbridge. In July, a man was arrested near Tung Chau Street for carrying a home-made shotgun and bullets.

Public Hygiene Problems

The less fortunate are constantly found gathering and sleeping under the Tung Chau Street footbridge, which causes public hygiene concerns. In Tung Chau Street Park, needles used by drug addicts have been spotted. In addition, with several developmen­ts in constructi­on in the area, bus stations near these sites are having mosquito problems.

Modular Social Housing Scheme

Initiated by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service and funded by the government and real estate developers, the Modular Social Housing Scheme has planned its first project: a threestory modular housing developmen­t expected to open by the end of 2019. Located on Nam Cheong Street, the project will provide 90 units that can house one to three tenants each, with the lease set at two years.

School Net

Sham Shui Po district belongs to primary school net No. 40, which includes Ka Ling School of the Precious Blood, St. Francis of Assisi's Caritas School, and Sham Shui Po Government Primary School. The district's secondary school net has Ying Wa College, Heung To Middle School, Chan Shu Kui Memorial School, and Tsung Tsin Middle School, among others. Concordia Internatio­nal School and Saint Too Sear Rogers Internatio­nal School are also located in the area.
