Tucked just behind King's Road, on Mercury Street in Tin Hau, is the appropriately named The Mercury. A conventional tower at first glance, The Mercury will soon reveal itself as a chic serviced apartment with a New York warehouse inspiration; its understated grey façade is given a fresh life with the first of The Mercury's two wall murals by New Zealand artist Alana Tsui—an endlessly Instagrammable and profile raising pair of four-metre wings on the ground floor's exterior—that give the address the kind of personality which slots in effortlessly with Tin Hau's rising star. Designed by Goodie Associates, The Mercury is welcoming with an elegant coolness that feels in step with the eyecatching exterior. The clean, minimalist first floor concierge desk gives way to timeless corridors before leading into efficiently designed apartments. The 69 open-plan, fully furnished one-bedroom flats feature a muted, contemporary colour palette with a delicately Scandinavian design aesthetic, ranging from 411 to 590 square feet. All flats are outfitted with Zone Denmark, Fest Amsterdam, House Doctor, Samsung, Nespresso, German Pool, Whirlpool, Dyson and JBL furnishings and appliances, and also boast ample storage. Among The Mercury's amenities are concierge and business services, complimentary Wifi, a fitness centre, laundry facilities and 24-hour security. Value-added services include inhouse catering, taxi and limousine booking, restaurant reservations and delivery arrangements, among others.

Nonetheless it is the fully equipped rooftop terrace with a barbecue pit that makes The Mercury a home. Complemented by 35thstorey harbour views, the terrace is an ideal spot for relaxing alone or entertaining guests, and it also features Tsui's second mural, a bespoke 14-metre monochrome (with a touch of colour) painting that reflects The Mercury's waterside location, Tin Hau's increasingly funky vibe, and of course Hong Kong's singular east-meets-west identity.
