Belon’s entrance is one of drama— guests descend a blue lit staircase, emerging into a room that positively glows with sparkling vertical lamps and glittering chandeliers.

Curved banquettes and comfortable armchair seating adds to the slick aesthetic; the vast space also means everyone enjoys a fair bit of privacy. As the name suggests, French oysters are a specialty and the restaurant makes sound recommendations—and there are often good value deals with accompanying champagne. The menu is a solid mix of surf and turf signatures, and the Hokkaido sea scallop with sauteed chanterelles and Spanish saffron nage is a well put together combination. The restaurant also has a 21-day house dry-aged Black Angus rib-eye, which is cooked to our ideal temperature and perfect with roasted vegetables. To finish, the artisan sorbets come in refreshing flavours such as yuzu and dragonfruit.
