Café de Paris Monte-Carlo

-

MOP350 per person

When you step through the forest-green art nouveau arches, there’s a feeling that you have momentarily stepped into a fantasy version of the Monte Carlo original. Café de Paris MonteCarlo is a fine choice for a simple bistro meal. French classics abound, from salade Niçoise to a hanger steak with pommes Pont Neuf. Dishes miss the mark slightly, such as a French onion soup with the cheese only half-melted, or a sickly icing atop the millefeuille Prince Albert, but the animal proteins are well-executed, such as the roast spring chicken Forestière, with its skin crisp and fat mostly rendered, and the hanger steak cooked to the desired doneness. The small, succinct wine list offers a number of choices by the glass and bottles are mostly mid-range, with all the wines being organic, natural and biodynamic—a welcome change from the flashy labels of many of Macau’s restaurants.
