Hidden in the basement of the high-end Landmark mall, Dr Fern’s is just the place for what ails you. Step through the door of the doctor’s office and you’ll enter an alternate universe that appears like the living room of an elegant yet eccentric Englishwoman—chequered flooring, hanging flora and cabinets that suggest hidden secrets. The dim lighting makes the bar, no matter what time of day you visit, feel conspiratorial. Cast your eye to the bar and you’ll see plenty to talk about, too, with hundreds of gins in what must be one of Hong Kong’s largest collection of the botanical spirit. A flavour wheel helps those who may not be sure of exactly what they want to drink: going from sweet and confectionary to spicy and savory, each flavour profile has its own range of suggested gins. Selected gins are also paired with recommended accompaniments, such as orange peel, cinnamon and rosemary.
