CAFÉ GRAY DELUXE

-

The Upper House remains the pinnacle of cool for international travellers searching for a crashpad in Hong Kong, and its flagship restaurant by acclaimed chef Gray Kunz a firm fixture among the fashion, art and design set. And food lovers, too, flock here for a stylishly rendered dining experience, and with new chef Eric Raty at the helm we see a new chapter for the genre-bending restaurant that is comfortable incorporating a diverse range of ingredients into the menu. Surprisingly for such a modish venue, portions are hefty—a house-cured gravlax presents itself as a lengthy tranche of aromatic fish and crisp, light brioche that can be shared between two. Go light on the starters and make sure you order the braised shortrib of beef with soft grits and a mustard sauce—the meat is fork tender, and the horseradish julienne cuts through the richness like a shovel through fresh snow.

With its impressive views over Victoria Harbour, Café Gray is a beautiful perch both in the day and in the evening; breakfast, in particular, is an enjoyable time to luxuriate in the tranquil surroundings while dinner presents a buzzier atmosphere.
