Q: Why do you invest in India and what is the market potential for Oerlikon when India moves to BS VI norms?

Khullar:

With presence in 4 major regions - America, EMEAR, China and India, Oerlikon Drives Systems serves various markets and customers under 2 brands, Oerlikon Graziano and Oerlikon Fairfield. For us, India possesses huge opportunities due to its demographic dividend and other advantages. There is a large local consumption demand along with India being seen as a preferred destination for exports by global OEMs. With technological advancement from Euro IV to Euro VI norms, the companies like ours which are focused

on providing technologically advanced and quality products gain more. We have been present in India for almost 2 decades and have global technologies which are already proven in developed nations. Our global counterparts are already supplying products to various customers which are at Euro VI norms, whose know-how can be easily transferred to India.

Q: What are all the products you offer to the Indian market and the products developed in India recently?

Khullar:

We have been the pioneer in India to bring Electron Beam Welding Technology and have designed and developed many high precision components also using this technological advancement in India. In terms of products, our shifting solutions (synchronizer units and powershift clutches) have been used in agriculture, commercial vehicles and construction industry. Apart from Shifting Solution, we are focused on Bevel Sets, Differentials, Electron Beam Welded Parts, High Precision Gears and Shafts, Planetary Drives (Torque Hub®), Axles for Construction Equipment, Transaxles for Electric Vehicles and CVT Transmission for Tractors. For example, now in Shifting Solutions, we have range of size from 62mm up to 184mm Single Cone, Double Cone and Pin Type Synchronizers being made in India with all friction materials available like bronze, molybdenum, sintered bronze and carbon.
