ICMPL plans to enter emerging powertrain segment
Chennai-based ICMPL (Integral Component Manufacturers Pvt Ltd), manufactures technologically advanced engine components both for domestic and export markets. Its products include impeller, adaptor, bearing cap, water inlet, thermostat housing, gear cover, oil pump cover, and water pump cover. These automotive engine components are used in various engines for better performance and durability. ICMPL plans to grow in the emerging segments of powertrain, electric vehicle (EV) and beyond.
“The world is still confused with the change in the automotive industry. This will have an impact on our investment plans in the future. So, we commit to grow continuously by delivering quality products, achieving customer satisfaction and by becoming a benchmark company, through teamwork,” V S Karunakaran, Managing Director, ICMPL, told The company makes the components from special grade and standard grade raw materials like iron, alloy steel, stainless steel and aluminum to ensure international standards. It works with major OEMs as technology partners to re-design components and make them cost-effective. ICMPL has bagged export orders from the US and Japan, owing to its consistent focus on quality.
“The greatest strength of our company is high focus and reliability. Our products have consistent quality which impresses our customers. We also re-design as per the customer’s requirement without compromising on quality. The ‘TS16949’ system is the base which drives our company to attain perfection,” he said. “We manufacture our products keeping in mind the exact requirements of our customers. Our manufacturing unit is well equipped with the state-of-the-art facilities and equipment so that we can produce range of products that fulfill our customers needs. Quality has been our prime concern in this business since inception and has earned us a large and trusted clientele across the world. As a result, we are the primary supplier of components to Bombardier, USA. And recently we started production for Wako, Japan. There are many leading customers like Volvo, Caterpillar, Ford, Hyundai, Harley-Davidson, John-Deere, Renault-Nissan and Cummins, who prefer our components owing to our consistent quality,” Karunakaran said.
He continued saying that, “We supply 250,000 transmission components to Ford annually, 120,000 components to RenaultNissan and 50,000 to BMW and engine components to Hyundai, John-Deere and Volvo. The products are being supplied
daily. We also cater to the export markets and export components to Ford India and Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV) which in turn are exported to Brazil, Japan and various other countries. We also have a joint venture with Indo Nippon Precision Components Pvt Ltd through which we supply to Japan.” he said.
ICMPL supplies around 75,000 aluminium die-casting components, 250,000 engine components and 60,000 iron and steel parts to Wako Filter Technology Co. Ltd, Japan. It has received more Japanese orders because of its high productivity skills and the superior quality products.
ICMPL has also acquired a Mexican company Acumet LLC in Aguscalientes, which caters the US market mainly. Now to meet the growing demand the company is planning to double the capacity of high precision aluminium die casting components. It is also working with Transmission Corp, the European company.
Transmission components
ICMPL manufactures and supplies automotive and power transmission components to a variety of options matching diverse customer requirements. It offers differential case, lever, bracket, pin, fork, shifter shaft, arm control, block, tube, and many more. The automotive transmission components are manufactured for very stringent quality levels by qualified and experienced engineers who are familiar with all customer needs.
ICMPL has expertise in various machining and manufactures high-quality, close-tolerance parts in a wide variety of materials such as aluminum and iron castings, alloy steel, stainless steel, tube, aluminum extruded rod and brass.
