FORD HAS updated their popular Ecosport SUV and have given the car added style, more feature and a petrol-powered heart. Exterior design changes include a redesigned front fascia, with a large grille which is inspired by Ford’s global SUVs, larger projector headlamps with daytime running lights and a larger set of 17-inch alloys. Inside, the biggest change is the addition of a 8-inch floating touchscreen display with Ford SYNC 3 technology which supports Apple Carplay and Android Auto. Lower variants make do with a 6.5-inch touch unit with similar smartphone support. Other changes include a completely redesigned centre console, steering wheel and the instrument panel. On the mechanical front, the updated Ecosport gets a brand new 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol engine, which replaces the 1.5-litre 4-cylinder and turbocharged 1.0-litre 3-cylinder Ecoboost petrol unit. Ford has also replaced the 6-speed DCT with a new 6-speed automatic transmission. The 1.5-litre diesel remains the same and is mated to a 5-speed manual. Prices remain the same and start at Rs 7.31 lakh
