BOOKINGS FOR your ticket to freedom are now open. Touted as the king of touring, the Japanese auto giant’s flagship touring motorcycle has been launched in India at a very enticing Rs 26.8 lakh ex-showroom, Delhi. For that asking price, the Gold Wing makes a case for itself with a plethora of new tech and features. A radical new addition to the motorcycle is the dual clutch transmission. The VFR1200 was the first followed more recently by the CRF1000L Africa Twin and the Gold Wing becomes Honda’s third motorcycle to feature a 7-speed automatic gearbox. The motorcycle gets ride-by-wire technology which allows the introduction of four riding modes along with hill start assist. Much required tech for a machine weighing 357kg, packing 125bhp and 170Nm of peak power outputs. Yet, Honda made the motor- cycle lose 6.2kg with a new flat-six engine that now uses 4-valves per cylinder. Plus all that weight is suspended with a new double wishbone front suspension featuring a single shock at the front and a single-sided swingarm mounted mono suspension at the rear.
