All new generation Volvos are desirable

- Yogendra Pratap Editor yogendra.pratap@intoday.com @YogenPratap

It’s not often that I drive a car I want to buy, own and live with and think that it would do nicely for a large majority of my motoring needs, that are as diverse as anyone’s can be. And a car that fulfils my requirements for safety is also difficult to find even in the lower rungs of the premium brands.

Entry level premium SUVs should have sufficed but often to keep the price low and to differentiate between higher end cars, manufacturers have a tendency to strip them of features and systems that even mass-market cars have.

The new-gen cars from Volvo are all desirable, both on the outside as well as on the inside, but are often beyond my means. Finally, the smallest of the SUVs from Volvo could be a car that I may be able to afford – just about. But the beauty of the car is that it makes absolutely no compromises, on safety, on features and on assistance systems – it looks good and has a cabin that is not only desirable but also practical as well. What remains to be seen is the price and going by Volvo’s pricing strategy, I would be surprised if it’s not competitively priced. Also in this issue is what could very well be Innova’s challenger– the Carnival by Kia. We have the first drive of the MPV and were mighty impressed. As for the big news this month, we check out how Honda’s new Amaze compares to the rest of the sub-4m sedans. Whether it is better than the rest is the question we answer in this issue. Apart from that we have the usual news, first drives of the S version of the Ecosport, a drive of the Bentley Bentayga as well as first rides of the Hero Xtreme and the Suzuki GSX-R 750. Special features include an exclusive catching up with the Royal Enfield Flea at the Duxford Imperial War Museum in England at the global reveal of the Classic 500 Pegasus and a journey up to Sandakphu in a Series I Land Rover as a part of the Land Rover 70 year celebrations. So enjoy another packed AUTO TODAY issue and ride and drive safe till we see you in print next month, or on television every weekend or on our brand new AUTO TODAY Youtube channel.
