Tata Tigor

Model XZ(0)

-

Design-wise the front end of the Tigor can have you thinking of the Tiago. Though a thorough look points to differences that include smoked headlamps and a bit of a chrome trim. In profile, the Tigor stands out in a market full of options. The sweeping roofline gives it a unique coupe-like look. This is also why the company calls it a ‘Styleback.’ We loved the third stop lamp that’s integrated within the rear wind shield. Apart from making the sedan look sporty, designers have also managed to clear up to 420 litres of space in the boot. The interiors are fresh and different from what we have seen in Tata car till date. The dash offers plenty of space in the glove box with numerous stowage options. The touchscreen entertainment panel also doubles up as a display for the climate control unit which is unique as one is used to seeing displays around the rotary knobs and dials. When it comes to space, the Tigor cabin is not as spacious however, it cannot be called uncomfortable either.

The sedan’s engine is smooth and offers linear acceleration. There is ample torque to pull on through the gears and this means that downshifts can be avoided in most situations. Adding to the accolades are the multi-drive modes. For city drivers, the Eco mode is tuned to offer better fuel economy, however the performance isn’t up quite up to the mark. We felt that the City mode does justice to the sedan, as there was an evident difference and one can feel the sudden spurt in spirit. Handling is sharp and the small diameter steering wheel is fun. The ride quality is good, in sync with other Tata cars.
