Scramblers take centre stage this time
Ducati came to the Intermot this year with a range of new and updated Scramblers. This included the Full Throttle, Café Racer and Desert Sled. So let’s take one at a time.
The Cafe Racer is inspired by the Ducati 125GP Desmo. It has 17-inch spoked wheels, aluminum bar end mirrors and sports the number “54” on each side panel in honor of road racer Bruno Spiaggiari. The Cafe Racer comes with a tiny headlamp fairing and the same single pod intrument panel. The typical Scrambler teardrop tank with interchangeable panels is combined with a new seat, specially designed and equipped with a seat cover for the passenger. Then there’s a dual tailpipe exhaust and it features a radial front brake pump for better braking abilities. The motor is the 803cc L-Twin, which produces 73bhp@ 8,250rpm and
67Nm of torque at 5,750rpm. This motor remains common to all the three variants revealed at the show.
Next up is the Desert Sled, which has gone through a minor upgrade. This also means that one has to look carefully to spot the differences. The 2019 Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled now features a red frame, a new seat with colour co-ordinated stitching and spoke wheels with black rims. In addition, the new Desert Sled also gets equipped with an ‘Off Road’ ride mode. This mode also allows the rider to switch off the ABS which translates into the rider having fun on the gravel tracks.
