Creta begins second innings

HYUNDAI INDIA had showcased the second generation Creta at the Auto Expo 2020, and now it is finally available at an introducto­ry price of Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom, India), while the range topping diesel automatic variant is priced at Rs 17.20 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The new Creta sees major changes to its exterior, interior as well as under the hood. The redesigned front features a new face featuring 3D cascading grille flanked by the larger LED headlamps with new split LED daytime running lamps. The new LED taillight matches well with the headlamp design giving it a very dynamic look The profile sees changes towards the rear section with a floating roof design as well as the new set of 17-inch alloy wheels.

The cabin is completely redesigned with dual-tone interior, a 10.25in touchscree­n display with other in-car controls positioned below. The multi-functional flat-bottom steering wheel is new with a 7in digital instrument cluster. It also comes equipped with Hyundai’s BlueLink technology.

The new set of engine choices are BS VI compliant. The 1.5-litre petrol mill develops 115bhp and 144Nm, mated to either a 6-speed manual or a CVT unit. The 1.5-litre diesel engine churns out 115bhp and 250Nm, paired with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic. The 1.4-litre turbocharg­ed petrol unit develops 140bhp and 242Nm, paired with a 7-speed DCT unit.
