RE Interceptor 650
This has been a rather interesting month for our long term Interceptor. First and foremost, it got a much needed and well deserved service. So what all was done? Let’s get that sorted first. The bike got a new glug of oil along with new filters and a thorough wash down. Apart from that our bike’s headlamp bulb conked off and hence it was changed. The speedo cable too was replaced and now we have a properly sorted out bike. So how has it been riding ever since? The moment the bike got out of service we took it out on a highway jaunt to Dehradoon. The open stretches of newly built roads meant that we could open up the beast within. Twist the throttle and there is a smooth surge of power coming in. Overtaking on the highway is a breeze no matter which gear you are sitting on. There is absolutely no need of a downshift. Just twist the wrist and go. However while cruising at higher speeds there is a fare share of wind blast hitting the helmet. A small flyscreen would have made things much better. While we could surely manage the wind blast by slowing down a bit, one thing we could not get away from was the seat! The seat is not meant for long rides and ends up giving an aching bum. The best thing to do is to opt for the touring seat which is offered by Royal Enfield. The touring seats are much more comfortable and look exactly the same as the stock ones.
