Products Last mile connectivity reimagined!

Hero Electric has launched the Glyde, a scooped which is fantastic for last mile connectivity. Rahul Ghosh got a chance to check it out and here’s what he thinks

-

The Glyde is based on the concept of a scooped and as a result is a simple machine. It rides on two small wheels connected via a flat standing board which is good for adults. The motor powers the front wheels only and the whole contraption can be folded easily as well. The tall handlebar is comfortable to hold and houses a LED headlamp, power on/off switch, charging point and a comprehensive digital instrument panel. Power is provided to the front wheel using a 250w motor and it comes with a 36v lithium-ion battery which can be fully charged in little over three hours.

To ride the Glyde one has to give it an initial push and then press the accelerator toggle on the handlebar. The bike gets on to a rather respectable speed of 17kmph which trust me is enough on a machine like this. To slow down, one has to press the decelerator which is not essentially a brake. So it is advisable to ride the bike at a sane speed to aid effortless stopping. However in case of an emergency, one can dab the rear mudguard which doubles up as emergency brakes. One also has to be a little careful on small potholes as the Glyde does not get a suspension system and thanks to the tiny wheels it tends to get a bit dislodged.

At a price of Rs 21,990, the

Glyde is an expensive proposition. But as for convenience, it is a brilliant tool.
