Mercedes-Benz India will help setup a temporary hospital in Pune with isolation wards capable of handling 1,500 patients. The facility will be set up in association with Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority’s (MHADA) in a 374 room strong housing area located in the Mhalunge-Ingale village, Chakan Khed, close to Pune and PCMC area. The German carmaker will also provide assistance to the Zila Parishad infrastructure-wise by assisting with medical equipment required to create a temporary OPD, infrastructure for stay, stretchers, wheel chairs, PPE kits, sanitizers etc., aspects essential to the functioning of the hospital and isolation ward. Once the situation improves with a fall in COVID-19 patients, the medical equipment will be donated to the Civil Hospital of Khed, while assets from isolation wards will be donated to tribal youth hostels.
