Summer is around the corner, and after a couple of months of just sitting in the garage it’s finally getting to be the time when you pull the wraps off, hop on your motorcycle and ride off into the sunset! PRE-RIDE CHECKS
to ensure that the battery has enough power to turn over the ignition. In either case, battery health is best checked using a multimeter on an idling motorcycle. Results should be close to 12v. In case, you find the voltage low, try leaving the vehicle stationary with the engine on for a few minutes and keep rechecking till the voltage stabilizes.
A bike that is breathing easy is riding smoothly! Another thing you want to ensure is that your air filter is clean. The airbox is usually located on one of the flanks of the motorcycle. Remove the filter from its housing and use an air pressure cleaner to give it the once over. That said, if the condition seems beyond redemption it’s probably best that you invest in a new one. An upgraded after-market filter is a wise investment and ensures that your bike is getting enough clean air.
