Mercedes EQS SUV to arrive later this year
MERCEDES-BENZ INDIA has big plans for 2024. After achieving its highest-ever sales in 2023, the luxury carmaker has grand plans to introduce 12 new models this year including three electric vehicles and most importantly, the EQS SUV. The SUV is likely to feature the same powertrain as the EQS 580 sedan, with a dual electric motor setup which combined deliver 544bhp, 858Nm of torque and a claimed WLTP range of 609km. The EQS SUV is likely to be joined by the MercedesMaybach EQS SUV later this year. The first and only Maybach electric to date, will come with a 108.4kWh battery pack, and a claimed range of 600km. The Mercedes-Maybach EQS will come with two electric motors, churning out 658bhp and 950Nm of torque. The claimed 0-100kmph time sits at 4.4 seconds and the Mercedes-Maybach will hit a claimed top speed of 210kmph. There’s a strong possibility that the 450 4Matic variant could also find its way to India. In the UK, it is powered by two electric motors producing 360bhp and 800Nm of torque. The 108.4kWh battery pack has a claimed WLTP range of 610km. On the inside, the EQS SUV will carry the same single-piece, curved glass, 56-inch MBUX touchscreen infotainment system as the sedan. There are dual screens at the back with a tablet-like controller. Most importantly though, there is a seven-seat layout, which could be a favourable selling point in the Indian market. From the outside, the EQS SUV follows the path of the EQ design language. The EQS SUV is expected to arrive by the end of the year and it will be interesting to see just how it sets itself apart from its siblings and rivals, alike. The estimated price range should be between Rs 1.62 crore and Rs 4 crore (approximately).
