The Right Gear
Riding in the rain inevitably means getting wet but if you put some thought into your riding gear you stand a better chance of remaining dry. 1) Without doubt a good helmet is the most important part of a biker’s kit. It should fit well, have a sturdy chinstrap, preferably with a D-ring (they’re less likely to come undone in a crash) and should meet the local safety regulations. While an ISI certified helmet is legal in India, we would recommend a higher certification such as DoT or Snell. The helmet you choose should also have good ventilation to prevent the visor from fogging up. Furthermore, don’t forget to use a helmet with a clear visor. Avoid smoked visors. 2) A good two-piece rain suit (one that will go over your riding jacket and trousers) is a must. They’re usually very good at blocking out rain. As an additional benefit, a good rain suit bought from a proper biking store will also have built-in high visibility features such as reflective piping and graphics. Sometimes the whole jacket is made of high-visibility
