Preventing the Helmet Visor from Fogging

-

Fogging or misting of the visor happens when the warm breath you exhale condenses on the inside of the cold visor. Open up all the ventilation ports in the helmet to prevent this. You can also keep the visor open just a crack. Although some people do ride through rain by keeping their visors open, squinting your way through a shower is not the smartest method of riding in the rain. Be sure to dry out the liners of your helmet after each ride. Damp or wet liners can contribute to fogging. You can also get a cleaner spray that will act as a de-mister when sprayed on the inside of the visor. They are available at stores selling motorcycling accessories. An effective remedy is to coat the inside of the visor with mild soap water and then drying it, creating an additional layer on the visor, which then prevents misting.
