THE ZERO EMISSION CLASS AT THE TT SAW KIWI

rider Bruce Anstey take the win on his Mugen electric machine. TT Zero is the shortest race of the week with just a single lap of the mountain course. This year it was quite intense as well. As the race started, it was 23-time TT winner and Anstey’s team-mate, John McGuinness, who was leading at Glen Helen, the first timing check-point. At Ballaugh, however, it was Anstey who had slipped into the lead as McGuinness had run into temporary technical trouble. The Morecombe Missile had accidentally pushed the emergency stop button located under the seat. After wasting four precious minutes trying to recover from the problem, McGuinness had lost the lead and was forced further down the order. This opened the number two spot for William Dunlop, who was riding for Team Victory. McGuinness’ misfortune also allowed Daley Mathison to go through and clinch the final podium position. McGuinness was able to complete the lap but the timing sheets saw him finish fourth overall.
