‘V’ ENGINE
An engine wherein the cylinders are positioned radially, as opposed to a parallel or in-line configuration, usually at angles up to 90º. V-twin configurations are the most common, seen in most cruisers and some sports bikes. Harley-Davidson motorcycles only use a V-twin configuration. Ducati use a 90° angle and call their layout an ‘L-twin’. Four-cylinder (V4) engines, which have two banks of two adjacent cylinders, are also seen in some models, such as the Aprilia RSV4 and Tuono, Honda VFR1200F, and Yamaha V-MAX.
