RAJIV’S PROFESSIONAL JOURNEY BEGAN OFF THE back of a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Pune, followed by a master’s in manufacturing systems from the prestigious University of Warwick in the United Kingdom. One of the most recognised names in the Indian two-wheeler industry, Rajiv is known for his nuanced understanding of the Indian market and as a treasure-trove of knowledge as an experienced leader in this field, having taken the mantle of ‘president’ at Bajaj as far back as 16 years ago in the year 2000. Five years later, in 2005, he ascended to his current position as managing director of the company.

Rapid global expansion means Rajiv has built on Bajaj’s already strong portfolio under his stewardship, and led the company to new heights and widened its arc to reach out to untapped consumer-bases. Bajaj Auto have successfully established a presence in emerging markets with recent forays, including those in Russia, Africa, various countries in South America and more.

Rajiv also oversaw important alliances with Austrian bike manufacturers KTM and the Japanese marque Kawasaki, further bolstering the company’s profile and coffers by providing them manufacturing and operation solutions here in India.
